One optical principle, built for every stage of discovery
Every Nicoya SPR platform measures the same core signal—the shift in refractive index at a sensor surface as molecules bind—and converts it into real-time kinetic and affinity data without dyes, labels, or fixation.
Nanostructured LSPR Sensors
Instead of a continuous gold film, Nicoya sensors use gold nanostructures that generate a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) signal, providing exceptional sensitivity to changes in the local refractive index.
Binding Shifts the Signal
As analyte molecules bind to ligands immobilized on the sensor surface, the local refractive index changes, producing a measurable shift in the nanoparticles’ absorbance wavelength in real time.
Signal Becomes Kinetics
The platform continuously tracks these wavelength shifts to generate association and dissociation curves, enabling accurate calculation of ka, kd, and KD values without strict temperature control or vibration-isolated optics.
Alto & Revo
Alto replaces pumps, tubing, and flow cells with digital microfluidics (DMF), manipulating nanoliter droplets across an electrode array to deliver samples and buffers directly from a disposable cartridge to the sensor.
Disposable Cartridge (Revo Only)
Revo consolidates fluidics and the LSPR sensor surface into a single consumable cartridge, delivering true SPR kinetics from microliter sample volumes with no pumps, tubing, or manual fluidic prep.
Used by leading institutions driving scientific progress across India and globally.
OpenSPR is the recommended entry point. It’s the world’s only true benchtop SPR system with a compact footprint, no strict temperature control requirements, and a lower cost than traditional SPR platforms while delivering publication-quality kinetics and affinity data.
All four platforms use nanostructured LSPR biosensor technology for label-free binding analysis. OpenSPR is a 2-channel semi-automated benchtop system for routine kinetics. OpenSPR-XT adds a fully integrated autosampler for unattended 24/7 operation. Revo combines integrated cartridge-based fluidics with 4- or 8-channel LSPR for automated kinetics and biologics discovery, while Alto scales to 16 channels for high-throughput screening and drug discovery.
Choose Alto when you need maximum throughput, crude sample compatibility (serum, cell lysate, or cell culture supernatant), or minimal sample volumes as low as 2 µL. Its cartridge-based digital microfluidics platform can generate up to 360 binding curves in a single unattended experiment.
Revo is ideal when 4 or 8 channels provide sufficient throughput and you want a compact benchtop system for kinetics, affinity, screening, quantitation, and custom workflows. Alto is the better choice when you require 16 channels, higher throughput, and large-scale screening or epitope binning.
Yes. OpenSPR-XT combines the proven LSPR nanosensor platform with a fully integrated autosampler, enabling walk-away operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
No. Revo integrates all fluidics and sensor surfaces into a single disposable cartridge, eliminating pumps, tubing, and manual fluidics cleanup while delivering highly reproducible kinetic data.
OpenSPR Sensors are fully compatible with both OpenSPR and OpenSPR-XT systems and are manufactured with less than 5% CV on critical optical properties. Alto and Revo each use their own dedicated cartridge-based consumables.
Supported analytes include proteins, antibodies, antibody variants, peptides, oligonucleotides, nucleic acids, lipids, hormones, cytokines, small molecules, AAVs, and VLPs. Alto and Revo support both purified and crude samples, including serum, cell lysate, and cell culture supernatant.
Alto runs on the Nicosystem™ software platform for acquisition, analysis, and remote access. Revo uses cloud-enabled software with open APIs for integration and remote data access. OpenSPR and OpenSPR-XT use the OpenSPR Software Suite for instrument control and real-time acquisition, while TraceDrawer provides advanced kinetic and affinity analysis for OpenSPR and compatible datasets.
