What’s the difference between RTCA SP, MP, and HT?

All three systems use label-free impedance technology with the same Cell Index readout. RTCA SP is a single 96-well station for routine experiments, RTCA MP supports up to six 96-well plates in parallel for higher throughput, while RTCA HT uses a 384-well format designed for robotics-integrated high-throughput screening with up to four HT units operating together.

When do I need RTCA eSight instead of a standard RTCA system?

Choose RTCA eSight when impedance data alone isn’t enough. It combines label-free impedance measurements with live-cell imaging, allowing analysis of co-cultures, fluorescence-based cell counting, and advanced 3D spheroid or organoid assays from the same wells during a single experiment.

Which RTCA system measures cell invasion and migration?

The RTCA DP system, together with the CIM-Plate 16, is specifically designed for migration and invasion studies. Cells migrate through an 8 μm porous membrane toward a chemoattractant and  attach to gold biosensors, providing quantitative, label-free kinetic measurements.

Can the RTCA HT system be automated for unattended screening?

Yes. RTCA HT integrates with the Agilent BioTek BioSpa 8 automated incubator. Its robotic arm automatically transfers 384-well E-Plates between the incubator and analyzer, enabling unattended screening of up to eight plates (3,072 wells) while maintaining temperature, CO₂/O₂, and humidity control.

Do I need cardiomyocyte-specific hardware for beating cell assays?

Yes. The RTCA systems listed on this page are not designed for cardiomyocyte contractility or field potential recording. Dedicated Cardiac RTCA systems such as Cardio, CardioECR, and ePacer  are recommended for those applications.
