Gtn Spray

Description

When compared with conventional dosage forms of nitrates available such as sublingual tablets, transdermal patches, ISDN & ISMN tablets, GTN Spray is the most beneficial for the prophylaxis of effort angina because of its fastest onset of action and immediate relief.

Indications

GTN Spray is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of chronic stable angina.

Composition

Metered dose aerosol contains:
Glyceryl Trinitrate (200 metered doses)	0.4 mg per metered dose

Dosage

At the onset of attack, one or two metered doses to be sprayed on to or under the tongue. No more than 3 metered doses in 15 minutes. If chest pain persists, prompt medical attention is recommended. May be used 5 to 10 minutes before engaging in activities that may precipitate an attack. During application patient should rest, ideally in sitting position.

Side Effects

Slight headache may occur.
