The Association of Advertising Agencies (AAA) of Mauritius was launched in 1970. The AAA was officially registered to the Registrar of the Associations in July 1990. The AAA has become, during its existence, an influential professional body.
In 1995, the AAA launched the Advertising Awards Night. In 2000, two categories were opened to the islands of the Indian Ocean. In 2002, the Mauritius International Small Budget Television Commercial Award, with many other categories, was introduced. This award was open to advertising agencies worldwide. Starting in 2007, the AAA Awards became the Festival of Design and Advertising under the name ‘The Flame’.
The AAA Code of Ethics was first published in April 1994 and is respected by all members of the AAA and the media. The code of ethics was fully updated in January 2011 named ‘The Little Red Book: Code of Advertising Practice in Mauritius’ and a new AAA Constitution was officially launched in October 2011.
The advertising industry is dynamic and constantly responds to the changing habits of its audiences. With the constant development and evolution of new communication tools such as web communication, events and public relations, the association has changed its constitution to be more relevant to the industry.
As a result, the Association of Advertising Agencies of Mauritius (AAA) decided to change its name to ‘Association of Communication Agencies of Mauritius’ (ACA). This new identity now reflects the reality of the industry: it is about interacting with the public!
The Association is open to new members in the field of communication in general, with two types of membership: Full-Fledged members and Associate members. The ACA is now a member of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA).
