Over the past decade, Mauritius’s financial landscape has transformed significantly, aligning with global trends of deregulation, liberalisation, and financial market globalisation. Interest rates were fully liberalised in 1987, followed by monetary policy reforms by the Bank of Mauritius in 1991. Today, the financial system encompasses diverse institutions, including commercial banks, insurance companies, and numerous non-bank financial intermediaries.
