Start Up 101

In the World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2020, Mauritius ranked 13th out of 190 countries, improving from 25th in 2018. This indicates enhanced business regulations and a reduced gap with the global regulatory frontier. The 2018 report highlighted improvements in 8 of 10 indicators, including Starting a Business, Dealing with Construction Permits, Paying Taxes, and Trading Across Borders. Mauritius’ strong business associations support various sectors, making it Sub-Saharan Africa’s most competitive economy, ahead of Kenya (80) and South Africa (82).
