Objectives
The Home Affairs Department aims to protect the integrity of the nation and improve the day-to-day lives of the citizens of Mauritius through the formulation and implementation of policies geared towards:
- Ensuring that the people in Mauritius feel safe and protected in their homes and day-to-day lives, particularly through more visible and responsive actions for crime reduction;
- Enhancing national security and protecting the country from terrorist attacks and other security threats;
- Rehabilitating offenders in order to protect the public and reduce offending and reoffending;
- Reinforcing the governance and accountability structures to protect the rights of all individuals, including human rights.
